Hi! This week certainly felt like more of a loop than previous weeks. So today felt like a good reset. I went on a walk with my mom and a friend who’s moving north, read rationalist Harry Potter fanfiction, and listened to James Blake.
ZmURL Numbers
As I introduced in the letter last week, we are tracking number of event registrations and aiming to grow 7-10% each week. Last week we grew > 100% coming off our Product Hunt launch. This week we grew 33% over the previous week.
Launching the Organizer Page
The Organizer Page is a public page with all of your events that you can share with your guests.
Dan polished the page this week and got feedback from some beta testers. We are going to roll out the page to everyone this week.
We also added the ability to clone and delete events. Cloning events makes it easy to create multiple similar events in a series. Deleting events helps keep your Organizer Page clean.
All of these features were very commonly requested, so we’re excited to launch them this week.
Progress on User System / Invitations
I spent time building out the technical systems for a user system that’s separate from Zoom and a way to invite guests to your ZmURL page.
I hope to launch both of those this week.
Featured Event: MBA Battle Royale
Business school is about networking, but that’s a little hard to do when you’re stuck at home in a pandemic. So a couple enterprising MBA students, one from Stanford the other UChicago, are launching a battle of the MBAs game show.
The game show will pit MBAs from different schools against each other in a game show hosted on Zoom webinar. It will provide some fun and a chance for MBAs from different schools to meet, while raising money for charity.
The MBA Battle Royale is selling tickets to the event on ZmURL and they have 700+ guests who have collectively raised over $15,000 for charity.
Goals
~ 1,200 event registrations per day
Launch organizer home page
Finish work on user system and invitation
Start on interactive features on ZmURL page before / during events
Personal Life
I walked to the top of a new hill in San Francisco and found a familiar view.
